During April of 1979, Jaguar debuted a facelifted version of its XJ sedan, originally launched in 1968 as the Series 1. Known simply as the Series III, this final version of Jag's long wheelbase sedan incorporated a subtle redesign by Pininfarina. Engine variants included a 5.3 L V12, 4.2 L straight-six and 3.4 L straight-six. Model year '87 was the final year for the XJ6 SIII in the US, although the V12 soldiered on in Canada until 1992.
The two-owner example on offer here is quite possibly the finest of its kind anywhere. Records dating back to 1991 document original mileage of just over 9,400. Believed to have started life as a Jaguar Cars executive demo, both of its subsequent owners have clearly been fastidious in maintaining this XJ at the highest level. Original brochures are included as well as all owners books, keys, factory-supplied cassette cleaning cartridge, misc. literature and color charts.
It's finished in its original color of Nimbus White and features Barley Connolly leather. Amazingly, all body panels are devoid of any dings, dents or significant scratches. Paint meter readings seem to indicate original paint with absolutely no evidence of any crash damage. The leather has been treated regularly with conditioner and shows like new. The original, polished two tone wheels are in excellent condition w/no curb rash present. A second set of chrome wheels is included. Everything works and the A/C blows ice cold. There is also a clean CARFAX.
It's worth repeating....this is absolutely one of the finest Series III sedans in existence and represents a rare opportunity for the most discerning collector.
