DESCRIPTION

This Cobra replica, chassis #3001, is titled as a 1965 Ford and is the first Slabside 289 produced by ERA, approximately 10 years ago. The car was completed by Cobra Restorers of Kennesaw, Georgia and is finished in black over black leather. It is powered by a 1960s-date-coded 289 ci Ford V8 backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes rack-and-pinion steering, a Jaguar-based rear suspension mounted in a custom subframe, four-wheel disc brakes, and Dunlop wire wheels. This ERA Cobra replica now shows approximately 1,400 miles and is offered with a tonneau cover, an assembly and service manual, build photos, and a clean California title.

The main body, doors, trunk lid, hood, and inner panels are composed of hand-laid fiberglass finished in black. Features include fresh-air vents, wind wings, a windshield-mounted Raydot-style side mirror, front and rear nudge bars with overriders, a Monza-style fuel-filler cap, and dual exhaust outlets with chrome tips. A matching tonneau cover is included in the sale and is pictured in the photo gallery.

Dunlop 15×6″ 72-spoke wire wheels are chrome-finished, spline-driven, and mounted using Dayton notch adapters and two-eared knock-off nuts bearing AC center emblems. Firestone FR710 tires show 2012 date codes.

The interior features black leather seats fitted with DJ Safety lap belts, matching pocketed door panels and carpeting, and AC-branded floor mats and pedals. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts an upholstered drop-center dashboard with Stewart Warner instrumentation that includes an 8k-rpm tachometer and a 160-mph speedometer, along with auxiliary gauges and a Smiths clock. The odometer currently shows just under 1,400 miles.

A 1960s-date-coded 289 ci V8 was reportedly selected to recall the original small-block Shelby Cobras, and power is conveyed to the rear wheels through a Galaxy T-10 four-speed manual transmission and a Jaguar rear end. An oil & filter change and a full cosmetic detail was performed in October of 2020.

This unique 289 Cobra replica is arguably as close as you'll get to Shelby's original concept without spending seven figures. It runs, drives and handles as it should with no noticeable rattles, vibrations or other characteristics common in lesser kits. If you've ever dreamed of owning a real Cobra, this is the next best thing that you can drive anywhere.
