DESCRIPTION

The Alfa Romeo 2600 range debuted at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show, and is perhaps most notable for being the last cars from the storied Milanese automaker to feature DOHC inline six-cylinder power.

The inline six-cylinder, a high-tech powerplant, was best appreciated in the handsome, hand-built, Touring-bodied Spyder. The 2600 Touring Spider was assembled from 1962 to 1965 and was a larger, more elegant companion to the firm's Giulietta and Giulia Spiders.

This particular Spider was built in late 1962 and delivered new to Brussels, Belgium. Living a sheltered life for its first 50 years between Belgium and Holland, it is believed to have covered less than 54,000 kilometers since new. This 2600 Touring Spider is swathed in its factory-correct Grigio Biacca, a nearly white shade, over red leather, and it is presented in essentially showroom condition off of an extensive restoration prior to the current owner's purchase in 2014.

The Spider returned to its home country in 2012 and was subjected to a more than 1,500 hour, 18-month restoration by a specialist near Modena, Italy. Although it was solid and highly drivable prior to the restoration, the car was completely disassembled and taken down to bare metal. No screw was left unturned, and numerous rare new old stock parts were used to bring it back to showroom condition.

Inside, it features a restored dashboard with instruments that appear brand new, and a new roof and carpets further the showroom-fresh feeling. Its next owner can also feel confident in its electrical system, which has been thoroughly gone over.

This elegant machine was mechanically overhauled during the restoration and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
