For 2008, BMW revised its best-selling model, the R1200GS, with revised suspension geometry to go along with slightly revised styling. The new front end geometry and the general upgrading of the chassis made the new bike feel a lot newer than it looked. The boxer motor received a 5 hp boost while the beefed up six-speed gearbox got more accurately spaced ratios for better response at all speeds.
