This Signet Red C1 is a beautifully restored example of the first generation Corvette. It has only been driven a little more than 1000 miles since the restoration was completed. The current owner purchased it in 2018 and had it judged at the NCRS Arizona Spring Meet in 2019. Although scoring high marks in all categories, the owner has spent the past 4 years correcting for all the deductions and the car is now in top show condition. All receipts are available.
The Signet Red paint is in excellent condition displaying a uniform shine with no chips or other imperfections evident. All shut lines & panels fit as they should and the doors open & close tightly w/no fit issues. All brightwork shines as it should and is in excellent condition. The all-red interior is in near-perfect condition and was completely refurbished during the restoration featuring new seat covers, door panels, rebuilt dash & gauges, new steering wheel, new rocker & chrome seat trim. A correct Wonderbar radio was also sourced and installed.
Within the show-quality engine compartment rests a correct, rebuilt 283ci 230hp engine with casting 3737739 and suffix code F0414CO. The correct cast iron manifold and Carter carburetor are also present along with the correct stamped steel valve covers. The engine starts immediately from cold and settles quickly to a smooth idle. The Muncie 4-speed shifts as it should and the clutch take up is smooth & linear. Correct steel wheels feature spinner hubcaps and are shod w/Coker Classic 205/75-15 wide white wall tires.
The car is a well sorted example of an older restoration that runs, drives & handles as it should. It has been well cared for by its current owner with all details addressed for its next NCRS competition.
