26k Mile Time Capsule!
Ford introduced the Mustang II for the '74 model year, coinciding w/the 1974 oil embargo and subsequent fuel shortages. Developed under Lee Iacocca and derived from the subcompact Pinto platform, it was an "entirely new kind of pony car"-490 lb lighter and almost 19 in shorter than the previous year's model.
This prime example has only traveled 26,000 miles from new and looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It features the upgraded 2.8L V6 engine allowing it to function well in modern traffic. It is believed to have had one repaint in its original color of Vermillion Red with a contrasting red & white interior included with the optional Ghia luxury group.
Paint shows well w/no evident rust or crash damage, and chrome & stainless trim is straight with no visible pitting. The Normande Grain half vinyl roof still shows well in its contrasting bright white and is tear and crack-free.
The engine fires immediately from cold and there are no unexpected noises or vibrations. The A/C blows ice cold and further luxury items not standard for the time include power steering, power brakes, remote mirror adjust and a luggage rack!
Tires wear 2020 date codes and are in good condition with many miles of tread remaining.
If you're a product of the Seventies and you have fond memories of cars from this era, you'd be hard pressed to find a better preserved, original example of Ford's new pony car than this one.
